Windows always open minimized

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 at work. Irregardless of the software I am running, anytime I open up a new window, it is automatically opened minimized. How can I get the system to automatically open all windows maximized like my old system with XP? I tried changing the properties of the program shortcuts but it doesn't make any difference whether I set it to Normal, Maximize or Minimize. The windows always open up minimized.

I did a google search on this problem and cannot find a single other sole with this problem! Any brilliant ideas? Thank you.

Two things. Next time it is minimized stretch to full size and close it.

Next window that opens right click near the top right, click on maximize and then go to file and exit from there.

If it does not always open full size, it will at least be the minimized the large size that you made it in step one.

Press ALT+Spacebar and letter X. That maximizes. Letter N minimizes. Once you get the hang of it, it's really handy.

Hello Jwolfe, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If the above does not help, then you might see if resetting the folder views back to default. Afterwards, try setting the window to the size you want and close it to see if it opens to that size again.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I've tried all your suggestions but nothing works! I think I'm stuck with minimized windows. If you ever run across this in the future, please come back to this post and let me know that I am not alone. Thanks to all for your replys.

Hi, mine all open minimised, and they used to open as full windows, it doesn't bother me, but now that you mention it I will see if I can find a reason for the change and will get back to you if I do.

Jwolfe,

Since they still open minimized to the taskbar, then you might try a repair install.

I am not sure but I think that I have read it in this forums ..just maximize the window and click and hold ALT and the red X .. open again and your window should open maximized .

Hi Guys

I had tihs problem too but mainly with internet explorer. I fixed it by right clicking on the icon, going to properties and on the "shortcut" tab going to Run and selecting maximised. it now opens properly for me every time. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I am having the same issue where a window (not just IE but any program) will either start minimized or go to being minimized when I try to give it focus (just move toward it.) I've done various scans and it doesn't appear to be malware or a virus or anything.
Any suggestions?
Thanks very much,
Randy
