windows appear off screen on taskbar

Every icon on my taskbar only open off screen. I can see they are open by the thumbnail picture, buy I can't make it my active window. I have tried the alt-tab, move method but still can't get them to appear. Is the problem caused because my computer thinks there are two monitors, when I actually have only one? How do I stop this from happening?

Hello jpandolfi, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if you may be able to use the tutorial below to move the windows back on screen. When you have it back on screen, close the window so that specific window will be set to open back on screen the next time you open it.
