Solved Windows backup does not capture all my files

I have a 500mg external drive and just noticed when I check my backup some folders are missing. I have tried it both ways letting windows select as well as me making the seslections. I notice My Pictures and My Videos are not getting backed up. Any ideas?

Hello DerBear, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Normally when you view these in their library, they have the two included folders below by default in the library. Do you have the libraries checked, the folder locations below, and/or any other location your pictures and videos are in checked to be included in the backup?


My Pictures

• C:\Users\(user-name)\Pictures
• C:\Users\Public\Pictures

My Videos

• C:\Users\(user-name)\Videos
• C:\Users\Public\Videos

I only see 1 line. I do not see the Public one.

If you mean in the library, then you could include the Public folder in them if you like.

I downloaded Genie9 software for backup and it works fine. I just don't see any public folders on my system.

If you don't see C:\Users\Public, then it may have been hidden by mistake.

It is not hidden. I believe some how it is deleted.

Are you navigating to the location in Windows Explorer itself, and not from within the library?

If so, create a new folder in C:\Users, and rename it Public. Afterwards restart the computer to see if the other folders in C:\Users\Public are restored as well. If not, then you can use the tutorial below to restore them.

Once all of you public folders are restored, you can then include the appropriate public folder to the corresponding library if you like.
