windows boot selection

I have a strange issue haunting me. On a dual boot PC (Windows 7 x86 and x64 the OS selection (Windows Boot Manager) will not allow me to select with the arrow keys. Also the enter key will not allow bypassing the timer. I recently reinstalled both OS but it never worked previously when I had Windows 7 x86 and XP x64 on a dual boot.

During the install, during the several restarts that occur when you are doing an install it will work and I could select but now I cant. The keyboard is a USB keyboard with wireless mouse.

Any ideas?

Hello Mojavekroc,

Double check in your BIOS settings to make sure that you have the USB Keyboard support at boot option enabled. Next, double check to see if you have both operating systems listed and have enough time selected to display them at boot.

Solved with Brink's (Shawn's) Help

Although it wasn't as clear in the BIOS as 'USB Keyboard support at boot option enabled', ultimately this was what I needed to do to fix it. I would have to again go into the BIOS to tell you the description of how I enabled the USB keyboard. I guess that some BIOS' use different terminology..

I really do thank you for your help because it was very frustrating...

Now if I could just figure out why my Windows 7 x64 freezes on shutdown or restart.
