Windows Bootup time Severely Slow [Crucial M4 256GB]

I'm running on a Crucial M4 256GB. Recently I have terrible boot timings, last was 2mins 4 seconds. I have trim enabled as well. I'm going to upgrade my firmware after writing this post so I'll see how that goes!

You can improve some boot times by:

Making sure that your not booting with a ton of applications on startup. (You will need to use MSCONFIG to disable startup services).

Ensure that Prefetch, Superfetch are not enabled (There is no need for these services on an SSD).

Else, make sure that your SSD is set as the primary boot device within the EUFI/BIOS as you may have a time delay if its set to boot from CD / Network PxE or raid device.

Did all that and im still getting ridiculously long boot times; 5mins+. Any idea!

What version firmware do you have?

Updated to the latest firmware a week back.

Hey, I am still new to the SSD business but some considerations:

- Is there only 11GB free space on your SSD? Would this cause the performance drop? Samsung has a feature called Over Provisioning (reserving some unallocated space) so you don't run out of space and the SSD can keep doing garbage collection and wear-leveling.
- Perhaps you have switched to IDE mode in BIOS?

Can you post an AS-SSD screenshot please?

Look for -> Don’t Fill Them to Capacity
"... As a result of its benchmarks, Anandtech recommends that you “plan on using only about 75% of its capacity if you want a good balance between performance consistency and capacity.” In other words, set aside 25% of your drive and don’t write to it. Only use up to 75% of your drive’s free space and you should maintain ideal performance. You’ll see write performance start to slow down as you go above that mark."

Not exactly sure if it would impact read performance as well though.
