Solved Windows calculator usage question

I want to divide an unchanging base number by various different numbers.
Example:
The base number is always 4782.
I want to divide it by 79. The result is 60.53
Now I want to divide 4782 by 37. The result is 129.24.
And so on.
Question: How can I avoid re-entering 4782 each time?

A quick solution would be to copy the number and paste it repeatly as long as you need it.
For example, open the calculator and type:
4782<ctrl+c>/79<enter><take result><ctrl+v>/37<enter><take result><ctrl+v>/1234...... and so on.
This assumes of course, that you're not using copy-paste for other purposes in the meanwhile.

A second option is to use the calculator's internal memory to store the number to be divided, in pretty much the same way, but without occupying the clipboard.
4782<click m+>/79<enter><take result><ctrl+r>/37<enter><take result><ctrl+r>/1234...... and so on.

BTW, did you try the operation on a handheld calculator? My Canon can do some constants ops but I couldn't get it to do this one.

Store it in memory and recall it as required.

Not really (I don't even have a real calculator here to try), but I guess the second method of save to memory/recall would pretty much the same way as the Windows calculator. The copy/paste thing obviously doesn't exists there.

Maybe a more advanced calculator would have even more options.

To be honest, I would simply Create a quick spreadsheet in Excel (or one of the open source options available)

It would enable you to add divisors as needed - and these could be retained

Not sure what your end reason for this is, (and It's not relevant ), but if it is some form of record keeping it could be designed to produce output in a format to suit
