Windows Configured Update with no Update installed

Greetings,
I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not.

- I restarted my computer and during the shutdown and restart phases I was informed that windows was configuring my updates.
- I have windows set never to update on its own as I prefer to take care of it on my time (roughly once a month or whenever ESET starts nagging me about it).
- I checked my windows update history and there is nothing for the past several weeks.

So should I be concerned?

[1] You normally only get the Configuring Updates . . . if there have been updates downloaded and installed!
[2] Have you checked that you still have WU set to manual. Just in case a previous WU might have re-set it?
[3] Have you installed any new hardware or software recently that could have triggered this?
[4] Are there any yellow triangles in the Device Manager?

Based on your other posts,
I highly suspect its because you have removed WMP.

Really? Removing windows media player last week would result in windows configuring itself days (and several reboots) later?
