Windows Desktop Takes 20+ minutes to load from entering Password

Hi All,

I've looked on a few forums and at several threads to see if I can find a solution apart from reloading Windows.

Basically, for the past few months the laptop boots fine up until it comes to loading up the desktop. I enter my password in fine and then it takes about 20 minutes for it to become responsive.

For me, it's not a major issue, I just came on here looking if there is any advice out there.

I would start by running full AV and malware scans (but not at the same time)
Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

If no progress try establishing a clean boot to see if any programs are bogging down

I have already scanned for viruses/malware and it came up clean

I started following the second step and it rebooted absolutely fine

If it fixed your problem then you can start adding bits back one by one to see what was the original cause but to be honest the only startup entry you need is AV the rest is optional

But glad to hear you got it sorted
