Windows Double Login

It happens at random times. When I lock my Windows 7 laptop by pressing Windows + L, turn off the display of my laptop, and leave it overnight, when I try to login by typing my password it continues to a black screen for around 2 seconds and be back at the password prompt. I then have to input my password again and it goes successfully to the desktop.

I tried searching over the net and this seems to be a common problem. Their solution was to turn off "require password during login" in the power options. I did that but the problem still persists so I assumed that that is not the solution.

What could be wrong here?

Set "turn off display after", "put the computer to sleep after" and "turn off hard disk after" (<--this one in advanced power options) to "Never". These options can be found in Power options in Control panel.

But what if I want the "turn off display after" feature of Windows? The "put the computer to sleep after" and "turn off hard disk after" features are already set to Never since I installed Win7.

Regarding your sidenote, I lock my computer overnight because that is the time where TRIM works significantly on my SSD. Sleeping or hibernating your computer wouldn't allow TRIM to run. My aim is not power savings anyway so no problem there And even though I let my computer sleep or hibernate, I still get this double login problem when I resume it.

No problem at all, if you want to use it but you might try setting "turn off display after" to never just for one day so as to know if that's causing the problem or anything else.

Lol, I'm not too much of a humanitarian This is a laptop and it consumes so little energy anyway.
