I was playing around in W7 last night and had some vid files from a show my band played, and thought "I should make a DVD of this."

So I pop a blank DVD in the drive, it shows DVD maker as an autoplay feature, so I went for it. I try to add a video file (Mpg2) and program crash, I tried several times. Anyone else have this issue? Quite frustrating that they put it there it it is not useable (For me anyway)

I don't use it. Try some 3rd party software, they do better job anyway.
