EZ Transfer WinXP >> Win7
I did not find a really clear answer, so let me ask it in a slightly different way.
1) Here is my setup:
-My OLD XP 32-bit HDD is a disconnected "boot" drive in my tower (approx. 200 GB of stuff)
-My NEW Win7 64-bit HDD is installed in the same tower, installed Win7, updates applied, running well (1 TB)
2) Specific question:
-Can I just reconnect my OLD XP 32-bit HDD once I have booted my Win7 system 7 run WET?
OR
-Do I have to remove the OLD XP 32-bit HDD into an external HDD case and run WET to transfer the files?
3) Here is what I have done:
-I have downloaded the WET to my Win7 64-bit desktop
-I have downloaded the WET to my OLD XP 32-bit HDD (not installed or run)
>>> do I need to boot the OLD XP 32-bit HDD and install WET
4) Once the correct connection(s) have been made, I gather I:
-Run WET on the Win7 64-bit HDD and "point" it to the OLD WinXP 32-bit
-Select what I want to copy / move (just about everything except for the programs)
-Select where I want the user account/profile to be copied to on the new Win7 64-bit HDD
-Let it run uninterrupted
Is there anything I am missing in this?
ALL feedback would be appreciated as I have LOTS of important documents, the AOL Desktop v9.7, Pegasus Mail folder/files, etc.
Thanks!
-Scott
