windows error message prevents downloads

For about 2 weeks I have gotten this message when I try to download files or programs:

"Windows cannot find C:\ program files (x86)\fileserve manager\filemanager.exe"

Is this a virus, a corrupted file or what? I am a newbie and I need some help. Thank u.

I don't recognise the filepath, I'd err on the side of caution and treat it as malware.

Download the free version of Malwarebytes and run a full scan in Safe Mode.

To get into Safe Mode, tap the F8 key on startup.

thank u for your quick reply. I already use malwarebytes and I did as you instructed. I could not update malwarebytes and instead got the error message:"Program error updating (11004,0 no address found). I will send a note to malware about this.
