Windows excessive reinstallation = hardware problems over time.

Hello. A friend of mine is saying that it's best to avoid the regular reinstallation of the windows operating sistem because in time there are definite chances of hardware damage or intensive hardware wear and tear. is this possible? i think not. please reply your opinion.

I work as an IT technician for a games company, and in my time here I think I've reinstalled machines a gazillion times, never heard of this before, and certainly not experienced it. I think it's more likely, if anything, that not "refreshing" your system like that, and keeping it running with the same setup, with installed and uninstalled programs and drivers would have more wear and tear effect on the hardware, but I doubt even that has any physical effects on it. Would like to know more though if he has concrete examples of such things happening.

I couldn't count the number of times I have reinstalled Windows and have never had any adverse effects on any hardware; in-fact you will have a better Windows experience if you do periodic reinstalls as that gives you a 'new' Windows to start over with.

i agree 100% with Banoz and BFK - ignore your friend on this one.

installing windows does not put excessive load on your system, and is over very quickly. it's a much much better process than with xp.

Although the logic of those above responses would be my response. I guess there could be a brief "catch up period" between a clean install and receiving updates and drivers. But I think "damage" may be stretching it.
