once, i reduced the column size ("name") in order to see the other fields (date, folder, etc..) and no matter how many times I pull it out wider, it defaults back to the small size. I see no 'setting' for this to keep it from defaulting back to the smaller size...????

Hello Mark,

Normally, Windows will remember the view set in only a single folder, and for how it was when last closed.

If you like, once you set the column width to how you like in Windows Explorer for that folder, you could use either tutorial below to apply to all folders or only all folders with the same folder template.
Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Thanks Shawn, but that only worked for the window I have open. Once I close it and reopen it, I'm back to the miniwidth.
I saw all the downloadable things, but would rather do it myself...do they include registry changes or something? I didn't see a manual version of the downloads...

Yes, the downloads make the needed registry settings for you automatically and quickly. I didn't include a manual method since it would be pretty involved, and to risky for a mistake to be made.

If you like, you could use the "General Items" download for step 1 to set all folders to have "Details" view, set your columns width to how you like, then use step 2 to apply to all folders.
