Is there some way to fix a windows Explorer folder so that it doesnt change the next time I change the view of another folder? I like to group all my Games shortcuts in a folder displaying icons with no navigation bar, same for Utilities, Editors and Security shortcuts. I also like most other folders to display details. Every time I change one folder's appearance it changes all of them. How can I accomplish this?

There is probably some simple way to do this but I haven't been able to figure it out. I could do it with XP and Vista but not W7 x64.

I appologize if someone has already asked this but I couldn't find it.

Go to the inside of any folder and right click inside of it, click Customize this folder, and under the customization tab, make sure the "also apply this template to all folders" button. I hope this helped...:)

Hello Tenbear, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Is this a Library folder that you have these game shortcuts in? A library will share the same folder view settings with all of it's included folders.

Peaches - Sorry, this didn't work.

Brink - I made a new folder in Desktop. Dragged the game icons into it, used Organize to remove the Navigation, detail and preview bars, resized the window to fit and closed the window. Then I opened Windows Explorer and it had the same appearance as the Games folder. Added the Navigation Bar to the Windows Explorer folder and resized it, then closed it. Looked at the Games folder and it now looked like the Windows Explorer folder.

I would like to be able to set up a universal window and then change some windows and lock their appearance.

Thanks to both of you for your help.

Ah, I see.

The Navigation Pane, and all other panes in a Windows Explorer window are universal in all windows. However you change it in one window will be changed in all windows.

The only thing that is not universal are folder views. These would be these below. You can also look at the related links in the tutorials below for more on this.
Hope this helps,
Shawn
