I've always felt that Windows Explorer is a fairly weak file manager, but am hesitant to get third-party plug-ins.

One feature that I would find useful: Does Windows Explorer have the ability to print out the complete directory and file structure of a drive?

I had not seen this before. I tried it on my Windows XP machine. I completed the steps up to, but not including, editing the registry. I can print a folder now, but if I double click a folder the search window comes up instead of the folder opening.

Are there other tricks to make Explorer more powerful?

Yes, here's a couple that can be applied with a free tool called "The Ultimate Windows Tweaker". See the screen shot for some of the things that it can add to the explorer right click context menu:

What I'm most interested in are file management and cataloguing tools. For example, finding duplicate files.
