Hi all,

For as long as I can remember using Windows, when downloading and naming files sequentially (fileyadaname1, fileyadaname2,etc), Windows Explorer has always shown a drop down list for the benefit of the ongoing additional file naming. That is the list of the previously added and sequentially named files in the series.

A few days ago I downloaded and ran Windows 7 Folder Background Changer, and once the stand-alone-executable opened, I received an alert the program wanted to add a startup entry. At which point I closed the program and removed it, without having clicked anything else in the UI.

Upon rebooting, all of my custom file and folder settings were changed and so I restored the machine with the restore point made prior to downloading. Following which everything was returned to it's previous state, other than the drop-down-list mentioned above is no longer being populated when it should be? Nothing else has been changed during the given period.

Presently I'm trying to wade through a large number of randonly named images, housed on a server gallery, which without this functionality is proving to be a real pain! So can anyone tell me how to get this functionality back please, and put me out of my misery?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion Bill though I'll leave that option as the last resort for the moment. I'm hoping there's an Explorer/Indexing/Search setting which I've overlooked and that can be reset...

Solved it...

The auto complete settings in IE had been changed.

Thanks.
