Windows Explorer keeps restarting

Hello Friends

I am currently experiencing consistent restarting of Windows Explorer on my PC. To find out the error which is causing this, I need to access task manager, which is also unavailable (greyed out when I right click on the task bar). By accessing the task manager, I hoped to stop the windows explorer process.

Can you use a "System Restore" point (or HDD image) to restore your PC to a time before your problem started?

Alternatively you could open the "Command Prompt" and execute:

sfc /scannow

If you still have to troubleshoot after a System Restore or File Check/Repair, I have had success using ShellExView (Shell Extension Viewer from Nirsoft) to selectively Disable Windows Explorer shell extensions. I typically would disable all 3rd party extensions, observing whether Explorer crashes, and if it does not then I re-enable these one-by-one as I need them until the problem reappears again.

it could well be a malware problem - viruses often disable task manager so they are difficult to get rid of.

try downloading and running malwarebytes - the free version is enough and very good at killing viruses.
