Windows Explorer not working

When I right click on a primary folder on C: such as “My Documents”, I get a window that says “Windows Explorer has stopped working”. After a few moments another window appears that says “Windows Explorer is restarting” and I am back to my desktop. The same thing occurs if I right click a drive. However, I can right click any subfolder and the proper menu comes up. As an attempt to solve the problem I used the “task manager\processes” list, right clicked on Explore.exe and selected “end process tree”. Started task manager again and under “new task” typed “explorer.exe” and it started, but the problem was the same.

You could try the following to see if it helps.

Open Control Panel, click on Action Centre & when that opens you will see Troubleshooting, click on that & follow through.

Also when you open the Action Centre there is a drop down arrow to the right of Maintenance, click on that & then click on View Reliability History. This will show how the computer has operated over the last reasonable period of time. It will also show problems that have occurred during in that time which might help you diagnose problems.

Also try downloading Explorer++ portable:

If you extract the files to a new folder then run Explorer++.exe try using it to browse to and right click on a dive or problem folder. It it works - post screenshots of the right click menu that shows up for drives and folders.

Some folders cannot be open in any way you like, such as right-click.

There is nothing wrong with Explorer.
To understand how Explorer work, try this.

Do Shutdown the Computer.
Then turn on the computer.
The shortcuts & files (program) will wink twice.
That is for explorer to have to check if the link (shortcut) is correct/valid or not.

If Explorer is a corrupted, then the system will never be boot up.
Explorer is the essential for Windows OS.
Hence, this is the behavior of Explorer and there is not an issue.

Don't be crazy just that the Explorer freeze or whatever.
Just how long are you using Windows and with Explorer, there is no known issue.
