Windows Explorer shortcut on tool bar, opens library

I tried searching for this, but all the terms are so generic I got billions of hits.

There is a shortcut...... I guess it's "pinned" to the taskbar (is it a toolbar?). I could swear when I first installed Win7 that it was setup to be a shortcut to the "computer". However, it now always opens up to the "libraries". I even deleted (unpinned) it and tried pinning a new shortcut so it would open up to my "computer", but it still opens up to the "library". I have no use for "libraries". How do I fix this?

No, I don't think so....... I just want explorer to open up in "computer" not "libraries"....... where ir shows my drives, not my documents, pictures, etc.

I can make a "computer" short cut on the desktop, but as soon as I pin it to the task bar, it ceases to open up in "computer", and always opens in "libraries".

I don't understand how that will help........ I don't care what the icon looks like (to a point), I just want it to open the right thing.

If you do what I said, it should open "the right thing", you can get rid of the shortcuts you do not want. Be sure they are shortcuts, and have the arrow on them, or you may delete something that is needed.

It was already checked....... I must have deleted it previously. It helps, but still doesn't address what I originally asked about. If I try to pin it to the taskbar, it still opens "libraries" not "computer". Having it on the desktop will be fine.


Any idea how to move the "show desktop"? I have my taskbar on the right, and for some reason, I can't move the "show desktop" to the top, like I had it in XP.

Try this click on the computer, when you see the address (at top) change what you see to computer. Just clear everything and then click on computer on left. See it that works.

I can change it to computer, but next time I try to use the short cut pinned to the taskbar it's back to libraries.

You are correct, I posted, tried on my computer, and saw that it did not work; so I deleted. I will see if I can find a solution

Did you do the "God Mode" modification? I recall reading about the same sort of problem with the taskbar icons not opening properly after doing such.

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

Ok, that worked after I deleted, and pinned again. It makes no sense, to me, why I could make a working shortcut, but when pinned it defaulted to libraries. Thank You!
