Windows explorer treating me like an idiot

Greetings, first time poster, long time admirer (of generally all thoughts who can answer the questions here)

As the title suggests I'm quite tired of the new windows explorer treating me like an idiot. Using arrows to point to which folder I'm in in the address bar, titling each folder, telling me how many hard drives/partitions I have.

Windows didn't see fit to include a gpedit in this OS so I now have to do everything by messing with the registry. Does anyone know a way/a guide that I can use to edit the windows explorer in 7 so as to not feel like I'm being talked down to? (by my own computer)

Thanks for the help, its starting to look like there's no way to modify explorer the way I want (take it out of fisher price mode).

you can use ClassicShell here to do some of these things: http://www.sevenforums.com/customiz...c-shell-1-0-0-first-official-release-out.html

Classic Explorer is a plugin for Windows Explorer that:

  • Adds a toolbar to Explorer for some common operations (Go to parent folder, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Properties, Email). More buttons can be added manually
  • Replaces the copy UI in Vista and Windows 7 with the more user-friendly “classic” version similar to Windows XP
  • Handles Alt+Enter in the folder panel of Windows Explorer and shows the properties of the selected folder
  • Has options for customizing the folder panel to look more like the Windows XP version or to not fade the expand buttons
  • Can show the free disk space and the total file size in the status bar
  • Can disable the breadcrumbs in the address bar
  • Can display an icon overlay for the shared folders in Windows 7

I think your misinterpretng something here.

The "Arrows" inthe address bar allow you to navigate through sub directories wihtout needing to "up arrow" 5 times. It is an advanced and speedy way of traversing your folders.

As for the drives under my computer, that was the same in XP, and depending on your setup a LOT more stuff can go under there than just your drives. But if you want to have explorer upen up to a preferred location like the root of C drive, then look for the tutorial titled something like "Make explorer open up some place useful".
