Windows explorer windows are blank, including task manager

Hello everyone. I got hit by the latest windows security virus and was forced to do a recover install. Ever since rebooting from the re-install, the majority of my windows explorer boxes are blank.

I've tried running regsvr32 jscript.dll and regsvr32 vbscript.dll to no avail.

I cannot use msconfig because the dialog box is blank when it pops up.

Any ideas other than a clean install?

start off with a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html after it finds violations it requires reboot, post back when you're done with it.
