hi, basically I have an Acer Aspire 5738Z notebook it was going a bit slow recentley so I decided to wip it clean and start again, before I even had the chance to think about rebooting it the wholoe thing shutdown and failed to boot. I thought this was my chance to wipe the whole think clean (using Alt+F10, acre Erecovery management) so I started doin it and after 17 long hours of the progress being stuck on 82% I decided it was time to turn of the computer and try it again, which I did and the whole thing was completed fine but when it restarted it came up with the message "windows failed to load a critical driver is missing or corrupt" and attempted to restart and try again only to be greeted with the same message again!

I have no windows 7 DVD but after a few hours of scratching my head I realized that my brother has the exact same laptop so I made a system repair disk from his laptop to use on mine... only to find that "startup repair cannot fix this computer automatically" and now it boots up but gets stuck on the windows logo screen and I've currently been there for almost 3 hours!

Can anyone help me please the laptops only a year old and I can't really afford the cost to get it fixed professionaly any help would be greatky appreciated... Thanks in advance guys!

Be patient, we are all volunteers.

Sometimes it takes running Start Up Repair 3 times. See what that does for you.

Call Acer and tell them you want a bootable disk for the O/S as well as a Drivers disk. Dell tried the same crooked stunt with me. I was missing the driver to allow my modem to connect to the net. It had been preinstalled but when I reinstalled the O/S this driver was missing and could only be acquired from a Drivers disk. When I contacted Dell I was told they could fix the problem if I paid them $50.00. When I mentioned lawyer the disks arrived by courier. These criminal type organizations are always trying to scam money out of you for problems they create.

Go get 'em and don't take no for an answer.

Get the superior Clean Reinstall without the Acer crapware which throttles Win7.

When you boot the latest installer provided in tutorial delete all partitions as they're not needed any longer. If install fails, truly wipe the HD using Diskpart Clean Command.
