So I see many people on the forums, and on other forums, use a Third Party Firewall such as Comodo.

Do you think that it is a improvement over the Windows Firewall? If so, what is your reasoning behind that? I mean, I think the Windows Firewall seems to be good, but I was just wondering why you guys like the Third Party ones, because I thought maybe I should switch.

When they are working right, yes. The only reason I don't go around suggesting them is the large number of problems I see on these forums that are a result of third party av/firewall apps.

Comodo in the only third party firewall I'd use & recommend, I've always had a good experience using it, V5 is really good & a lot more user friendly than previous releases.

Right now though I'm happy using the built in Windows Firewall, never had any issues yet since switching over.

I had been using the stock firewall for a while, it served me well and have never had any real problems with it. Recently i decided to make use of an IPCop firewall i build a while ago as a side project, an old box with 2 NIC's, copy of the distro and i was set. Apart from the added security it is also a great little project.

Windows Firewall shouldn't be your primary. In the past it has shown to be unreliable, (Remember the Blaster and Sasser worms?) and compared to 3rd party firewalls today it still under performs.

I guarantee you a new malware signature would shoot right by Windows Firewall (With out the user even knowing, Windows Firewall hardly prompts the user about anything as it is.)faster than Microsoft would release an update.

Bottom line is use Windows Firewall until you found another 3rd party firewall and then turn it off. I recommend Comodo personally since it offers nice layered defense, which is the key to preventing infections with todays ever growing threats. People often complain about it's ease of use though so try out Zonealarm, I've used it before it's quite reliable and easy to use.

I've heard a lot about Online Armor, and I have it installed on another PC and it works pretty well too. It's also fairly easy to use, and has a learning wizard mode which would be nice for the basic user.

Yes, Comodo rocks on my system, and its" light years" mucho better then 7s firewall. Just add D+ and Sandboxie and dont worry about malware or scanning for it again.:D Its like magic:shock:

Kaspersky antivirus for windows workstations 6.0.

this AV has all needed components such as antibaner, antyspyware, antihacker, antidialer, portscaner, antispam, intrusion detection, mail scaner, web antivirus, aplication activity analyzer etc. and firewall is also advanced enough (packet filtering, aplication rules etc.)
it can measure up it self with comodo

it has alot of options and it's business edition wich means beter than any other software developed by kaspersky.inc

useing it 5 years until now and have no security related issuses til now.
