Windows Folder Occupies 47 GB

I really don't know what to delete or what folder from Windows is the largest.
If this is it's "normal" size then explain me how to add 10 GB from D to C.

That is a massive amount of space taken.....

I am thinking....

1) System Restore has gone haywire
2) Gigantic Hibernation file?
3) Remnants from an Upgrade Install that was placed in /Windows and is taking the space
4) Somehow or another you have been downloading this to the Windows folder

AFAIK, System restore points are saved in "System Volume Information" which is located in the root of the drive and not in the windows folder.

Also the hibernation file hiberfil.sys is located in the root of the drive.

These two should not affect the size of the Windows folder.

Try cleaning out your Temp files and windows installer files.

Download something like TreeSize Free and run it against your C:\windows directory. This will break it down for you by folder and subfolder...so you can see exactly what is consuming space.

Don't get too worked up over the C:\winsxs folder. It will appear huge, but is really misleading.

Why not use "SpaceMonger" to see what's eating your disk space? Hint: Google "spacemonger".
I use it all the time to see visually what folder ate the most disk space...

Run the Cleaning Manager Utility -
START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe above under programs | select Run as Administrator | type cleanmgr tuneup in the cmd/DOS screen. Check the following boxes:

[FONT=lucida console][COLOR=black]- Downloaded Program Files[/COLOR][/FONT]
[FONT=lucida console][COLOR=black]- Temp Internet Files[/COLOR][/FONT]
[FONT=lucida console][COLOR=black]- Recycle Bin[/COLOR][/FONT]
[FONT=lucida console][COLOR=black]- System error memory dump files (NOT the next line - minidump files)[/COLOR][/FONT]
[FONT=lucida console][COLOR=black]- Temp Files[/COLOR][/FONT]
[FONT=lucida console][COLOR=black]- Temp Windows Installation Files[/COLOR][/FONT]

Download/install/run and it'll clear out all the junk.
Remember to empty your recycle bin afterwards.
