Hi folks,
This is my first post. I recently purchased a D-Link Wireless N 150 Roiuter (DIR-524).
I have a home network of 2 desktops (both wired) , one running Windows 7 Ultimate, another Windows XP and the third is a Laptop (wireless) with Windows 7 Home Premium.

My Laptop easily connected to the router as did the Windows XP. But the other desktop with Windows 7 Ultimate has become abominably slow and is randomly freezing. Any ideas?

Specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate
2.4GHz P4 Processor
2GB RAM
VIA motherboard (P4M266A)

What is freezing? Your connection or the computer itself?

If its your computer its unrelated to you plugging in a router. Freezing computers is oftenly mem issue, cpu overheating, harddrive about to fail. Combind with being slow, it feels like your CPU might have some issues.

If its your connection that is freezing randomly, it could be any number of things, the port on the router being faulty, If you did manuall settings on it you might have be accident lowered the speed for the port that the desktop is connected to.

Be more specific about the freezing

Regards
Greatness

I should have been more clear. The computer slows down and freezes. It takes a long time to open Network and Sharing...or even Windows update. Apart from that..all other software run fast.

Now that I checked, all my applications are running slow.

You should run some diagnostics.

Go to the site of your HDD manufacturer and download their tool.
Do a mem-test, same as above.

Your computer itself should not be affected by you plugging the RJ45 into a router.

I ran it in the "Safe Mode" and it doesn't hang.
All the programs are running fast...Also I have Ubuntu lucid lynx as Dual-Boot.
There is no problem there. That probably rules out the memory part.
I downloaded testing software form Seagate and ran it. Result: Pass.
