Windows Genuine Notice appears

I'm another recipient of the *genuine notice* appearing on the desktop.

This mid-tower case was built 6 years ago by the authorized dealer here where I live.

At that time Win7SP1 Pro x86 OEM was installed onto the hard drive, at my request *seeing as I knew the dealer personally* he burned me a copy of the install disc for my use.

I've had to reinstall the op/sys a few times since then due to failures/system corruption etc etc.

In all the time that has passed until a couple of months ago I've never had an issue with the product key installed..........until now.....for some reason that notice will appear frequently on the desktop down in the right corner.
Now if my system WAS not genuine I could understand the notice. But the system IS genuine.
But what has me really puzzled is the disappearing of the notice EVERY time I open the system page.

When the notice appears all I have to do is go to Control panel/system....the system page opens .......and immediately the op/sys become *activated* again ( the lower portion of the page shows the *activation*) and the desktop notice disappears until the next time we get on this merry-go-round.

It's been doing this for approx 7 weeks now and I have no idea what's causing this anomaly.

Another website suggested that it's caused by a faulty Rapid Storage install, my program is functioning as it should do.
Another website suggested that this is caused by a *Network* plug & play issue.

I'm lost on this.....has me baffled,

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi 55Trucker,

please post the complete report.

looking at the partial report AND based on your comments, the install is non-genuine

File Scan Data-->
File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\watadminsvc.exe[Hr = 0x80070003]

You cannot use an OEM factory built product key on a custom built computer

Custom built machines product keys are either
System builder or
Retail.

I'm somewhat at a disadvantage...

when you use the term *custom* what does that refer to?

The dealer who put the motherboard into the case & installed the graphics card is about as *custom* as it got. The harddrive & the rom drive used at that time was what I already had in my possession.
The op/sys *to the best of my knowledge* is the RTM for SP1.

Are you suggesting that there is nothing wrong with the key.......but it is not for the RTM?

Hi 55Trucker,

An OEM computer will come "complete" from one of the major suppliers, Dell/Acer/Asus/etc.

A custom built model is made up from components from different companies, like yours.

As i said the product key in use is for a >>factory<< built model, its a VALID key for an Asus ONLY built machine NOT your local computer shop, and will have entries in the report like this.

<SYSTEM><Manufacturer>ASUSTeK Computer Inc. </Manufacturer><Model>G73Jh
Yours does not!

Although you have not posted the lower part of the report i suspect the bottom line is

SLIC _ASUS_ Notebook
(certainly should not appear on a desktop)
This entry confirms that an activation exploit is present

Finally ALL OEM installs come with an attached COA sticker, quoting, Maker - OS - and a back-up key.

Thx Roy for informing me of all of this....

my motherboard is in fact an Asus/Intel,

so my best course of action is.......?

I came across a website a few days ago that stated Microsoft ceased support for 7 three years ago?...is that accurate?

If so what route do I take to clear all of this up so I do have a legitimate Win7 version?....

I like 7, it's stable, did not like 8 because of the *Metro* application, & I only make use of a desktop.

Hi Steve,

If the statement i made in my last post is correct,
SLIC _ASUS_ Notebook
(certainly should not appear on a desktop)
This entry confirms that an activation exploit is present

POST THE COMPLETE REPORT, and i wil be able to supply an in-depth analysis

If the OS was installed by the shop using an activation exploit, it is in fact NON-genuine, and if you paid him to install a genune system, you got stitched-up.

The only way around this is to buy a genuine licence, not cheap, Newegg is one of the few places your side of the pond that still provide them.

Roy:

attached is the complete system scan, at the very end there is an entry regarding the bios & a reference to
*notebook*, that sort of threw me.

Britain= *stitched up*
Canada=*taken for a ride*
