I got technet baby!

Plus, the new version only runs on x64 bit processors, and I was surprised to learn that my server P4 is NOT x64 bit....
I plan to upgrade it one day anyways. When I move out of the dorm maybe.

Pentium 4?
Something like that. It is an OLD motherboard and processor.

(After looking) It has:
Intel Pentium 4 1.6GHz
2Gb RAM
NVidia GeForce FX 5200
A 250Gb HDD and a 80Gb Hdd
Some other random old hardware

It was fun to put together :p

So is WHS compatible with win2k and win7? I have not been able to get either one to see the other on my home network, but if WHS can talk to both, that would solve the file transfer problem.

I'm not sure about Win2k. I know you can add windows 98 to the network, I would assume (I know, I know) that if you can share with a Win98 you should be able to share with a Win2k. Officially WinXP, Vista and Win7 are the approved supported clients.

Link to "Microsoft Windows Home Server Unleashed" and adding devices to the WHS network: InformIT: Adding Devices to the Windows Home Server Network > Installing Windows Home Server Connector on the Client Computers

I highly recommend (and also own) this book. It will tell you everything you need to know about administering a WHS.

You're still using a P4, that's ok by me as they make great home servers or even a basic home pc if you don't want to much from them especially if it has HYPER TREADING. Heck, I'm still using 2 PIII's (a 933mhz gateway pro for my garage pc running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and a Dell latitude C600 @ 1ghz, WinXP and 512k ram that my wife uses most of the time). My Dell C640 laptop has a P4m @ 2.6ghz and 2 gb ram running Win7 that I am using to post this comment. The only complaint I can think of is no AREO due to the ATI 7500 graphics card but I can use True Transparency to imitate it if I can't live without it which I can.
