OS
Win7 H.Prem. 32bit+SP1
Assuming both are blank and you have nothing to overwrite / lose on either, disk0 just because it's the first disk.

There may be other reason to pick disk1, but all factors being equal, disk0 is the proper choice.

My Computer

Computer Manufacturer/Model Number
Dell Optiplex
OS
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
Memory
4096
Disconnect disk1 so that all of the install is on disk0 ;)

Disk 0 is empty.

Use the best performing, highest speed, desired capacity HD, and as stated unplug the other HD before Clean Install Windows 7

When my friend got the pc, it came with Win7 Pro. 64bit installed on disk 1.
At present, the pc won't boot from a dvd, could the hdd be connected to the wrong port on the mobo?

Are you http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219533-troubleshooting-windows-7-failure-boot.html? It's hard to tell when you give us no contextual information at all.

If so first make sure in BIOS setup the Win7 HD is detected and set first to boot. Then if so boot the Win7 installer or Repair CD using the Asus one-time Boot Menu key (normally F8) to run Startup Repair.

If you're wanting to reinstall Win7 then decide which drive you want to use, plug it into DISK0 slot (SATA port 1 normally) and install.
