Everytime I boot up windows installer tries to run and installation and it gets an error code 1706 - No Valid Source for product AMRT, Window Installer can not continue. It also says looking for a folder containing installation package AMRT.msi then it lists a windows temp file it's trying to install.

After installing Windows 7 and having it up and running great for about 2 days I did a disk clean up that includes deleting temo files. Could this be the probelm?

Anyone have an idea on how I can fix thei? It's bugging the heck out of me having to cancel the attemted runs at boot up. Usually about 6 times.

Thanks,

Terry

At a guess, it's some sort of malware. Perhaps one of the free removal utilities (like Spybot Search & Destroy) could help you clean it up entirely.

The good news is that it appears to not actually be running.

What installer is trying to run an installation every time you boot up Windows?

How do you know this is an installer? How does it proceed?

Download Avast and run the boot scan to check for viruses. Then repeat with Spybot run in Safe Mode.

Once you eliminate a virus as the cause, run "sfc /scannow" to check system file integrity. If it finds unfixable system files, run a Repair install from the desktop using the Win7 installer and choose Upgrade which is the repair install in Win7.
