Hi

I have tried lots of recommended fixes to the windows installer issue i have when trying to download Itunes and also when using a cdrom to install greetings card factory with no success, you are my last hope before i send my 3 month old pc back to dell.

I'm running windows 7 home 64 bit and get the following message

The Windows installer service could not be accessed, this can occur if you are running windows in safe mode, of if the windows installer is not correctly installed, contact your support personnel for assistance.

Like I said I have tried lots of so called fixes with no luck, i've tried installing system mechanic (which installed ?) and it found hundreds of registry errors and fixed them but still no luck installing these programs ?

Please help or I will either return the pc to dell or throw it out of the window depending on my mood at the time !!

Thanks a million

Brou

We will need more details to be able to help with you

Is your computer in safe mode? You will find safe mode in the 4 corners of your desktop

Also does this happen to all program installs?

Hi Shadowjk

I have just had this issue in normal mode, should I try loading itunes and the greeting card factory in safe mode ?

It happens with the above 2 programs but it installed "system mechanic" ok ?

Thanks

Hi MvdB

I tried the SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

And it didn't come up with anything needed to be done like below (picture below is not from my pc)

I then tried something called uniblue to scan my registry and it found 135 problems as per the attached ?

Would you be able to see what is wrong from the attachement ?

Thanks

Brou

Well, your system registry seems to have a lot of keys missing.

Short of a system restore to factory settings, have you tried a system restore to a point before you tried to install iTunes?

Hi Seavixen32

No, i was going to go for the full system restore next as fed up of this issue ans just want it sorted really (but appreciate all the help I am getting here)

I think I will back up everything that I need to my external hard drive and then restore to day one and see what happens.

I won't get a chance to do this until sunday (31st July 11) so if anyone has any other ideas before then it would be appreciated otherwise I'll go for it.

And if that doesn't work then its going back to dell !!

Thanks

Brou
