Solved Windows is not a genuine copy (Build 7601)

Hey guys,
My computer was store bought with a pre-installed windows 7, after a malfunction with a system restore i had to use a windows 7 proffessional edition to get the computer back online, however... As i only used the disk to repair previous files, it told me i need an activation key.

I didnt use the activation key off the disk as it was a friends and only used it to repair the files, i still havea folder on the computer called "Windows.old" is there someway i can take that windows back onto the computer or use the preinstalled and activated windows key from the home version that it came with?

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool

The problem is that you appear to have reinstalled using Retail media - which requires that you use the Product Key from the COA sticker on the machine's case

If you can read the Key, change the installed one to that using the Change Product Key link at teh bottom of the System properties page.

If you can't read teh Key, you'll have to acquire a set of Recovery media for your machine from teh manufacturer, and use that to reinstall the OS.
