Hi, I have just noticed that drive C: was showing red and the Windows message said :- "2.58GB free of 148GB" I have only used about 45GB of this drive and have confirmed this by checking every folder. Can anybody suggest a reason for this problem ? Alec

I don't think all hidden and system files are typically included in the reported size of all folders as shown in Windows Explorer, even though they take up space on the hard drive.

How much space do you have allotted to System Restore?

Have you recently done a disk cleanup?

For some reason, my recovery drive is listed along with the C drive so that happens sometimes to me. I doubt it would be something as simple as this, but just suggested in case.

i had the same problem, let me guesh you have windows vista?

i noticed that with every up-date my C file was filling up.

its a vista glitch that it install's the up-dates but without removing the outdated and unneeded files

if it realy is the same as with me the only option that works is to de-instal windows and instal windows 7

but before going this far try what the other people say about cleaning it up
if the problem is not solved its likely the problem i mentiond just now

It has to be system restore and since it uses shadow copy I don't think it will list it's size anywhere, ccleaner.exe is your friend here as you can choose exactly which system restore points to keep and which to delete, as opposed to MS disk clean up, where it's all (except last restore point)or nothing.

Run the CCleaner first.

Please post back a screenshot of the contents of your C drive after choosing the Detail display from dropdown at top right of Explorer. Maximize window, Show all columns, use Snipping Tool in Start Menu.

You may have a windows.old folder with the entire contents of your old OS if you did a clean install of Win7 without booting the installer.

Use something like WinDirStat to find out what and where the storage spcae is being used.

Hi Guys, I tried all your suggestions but without success, then DeaconFrost said try WINDIRSTAT which I used and found a hidden folder under "Users" which was "AppData/Roaming/Azureus/Torrents" In the Torrent folder was one Torrent with no name just a bunch of numbers, but the file size was 110GB ! I promptly deleted it and my drive C drive is now a lot lighter. It looks like it may have been a malicious Torrent or worse. Thanks again. Alec

hi,
my 65GB C dive showing only 2.2 GB free. but total data(Program files, windows & including all hidden) in C drive is only 25 GB.
I have deleted all temp. used ccleaner, chkdsk /r, defragmentation etc. but nothing is working.
I have deleted all offline files, synchronised all data, but its not working.
If anyone having any standard solution please reply.
