I am trying to fix a hp 2000-299wm laptop. I am encountering opening the browser and it keeps refreshing either on a separate window or redirecting to the browser home page. I have tried using google chrome, IE explorer, and mozilla firefox. None seem to work. I retested it after each re-image and the same thing happened. When the browser is closed and not being used it will pop up randomly every 30 seconds -2 minutes. at this point i try to reinstall the operating system via flash drive which i start getting computer freezes shortly after bios splash screen with long continues beep. manage to get around freezes by enter startup menu moments after post splash is launched. i start up the computer and it goes through updates to registry and program files. Once windows starts again i noticed a malware antivirus program installed that i did not install. After that i decided to flash the bios with the latest update retrieved from another computer and flashed the bios which flashed successfully. But problem still persisted. At this point i decide to run a win 98 boot disk to use the fdisk utility. So i boot to dos using a flash usb and after the 98 splash screen goes away the computer starts spamming

Your system specs has "none" for AV; if you aren't using real-time protection, I suggest you scan the system for an infection of either a virus or malware.

Additionally, if you are actually "re-imaging" the drive, then the problem will be replicated in the image. You would need to "format" the drive to start with a fresh operating system.
