Hello, today i encountered a problem with my msn acccount. i couldnt sign in earlier in the day and found out that it was a client problem not the server problem. so i reinstalled windows live messenger a few times, deleted the contactlog.txt and cache. then i decided to install Windows Live Essentials Beta and see if it works, sadly no. I tried to uninstall it but i couldnt, so i used ZapMessenger. the program is gone BUT it is still under the add and remove programs list and i cant install the normal version of msn or even the beta. I also cant even uninstall it in the add and remove programs. Please help me ! ><

Edit: i also just found that i cant log in using Pidgin( another IM messenger) i can only log in using Ebuddy.com and some1 else's computer.

Have you tried doing a system restore to before you installed the Live Essentials Beta? Before we get your chat working again, I'd like to get WLE beta off of your computer. We also need to report the problem of it not uninstalling correctly to Microsoft so they know to fix the issue before they release it as a stable program, and thousands of others end up with the same problem.

Please rewrite that in proper english, as I'm not sure what you just said. In case you're wondering, yes, I have trouble with chat/text/teen speak. I think you're telling me not to worry about it not uninstalling because you reinstalled Windows 7 since the problem with not being able to uninstall occurred. Is that correct?

I just hate Windows Live Essentials. It just installs too many components that you don't need and when you try to uninstall them, they leave behind hundreds or a thousand orphaned registry keys, orphaned folders and files that make Windows Live Essentials appear in the add/remove programs menu even if you think you got rid of it.

Those orphaned components also make your computer think that Windows Live Essentials is still intalled and that won't allow you to re-install or install a new version of it. I tried removing Windows Live Essentials with Revo and so many things needed to be removed that you won't during a normal uninstall without Revo but even with that, it won't let me re-install because such WLE-related things were still left behind.
