Windows Live Mail, Print is grayed out

I am running Windows Live Mail 2011. Recently I discovered that I wasn't able to print. It was working two days ago. I haven't made any changes or installed anything. I went to Control Panel and Windows Live Essentials,chose to repair all products. but print was not repaired.

How do I fix this problem?

I believe WLM printing is related to printing from IE. For example, if you want to change the printed size of fonts in either an email or on a web page in IE, you must add the "text size" command to the IE toolbar and adjust it from there. Can you print a webpage with IE? If not, that may be the issue to work on.

You're so rignt, I'm unable to print in both IE 9 & Windows Live Mail. I don't want to change font sizes, I want to print text from emails and pages I find on the web.

Right again, that is the issue, one I can't solve alone, one I need help with.

What happens when you click on "print" in IE?
Have you added "Print Preview" command to IE's toolbar? If so, what happens when you use it on a web page?

When I click on Print using IE 9 or click on Print Preview, nothing happens. I have the Lexmark toolbar installed and from it I can print in various formats, like print in black and white, print normal, etc - can't print from it either. I also cannot print from Windows Live Mail, searching the web I discovered that the two are tied together, so when one has a problem with printing the other does too.

Using IE or WLM printing is a lost option. An IE reset will cause me to lose all my options that I have set, and all add-ons. Do you have other suggestions?

You can try to use IE with no addons by simply typing "no add" in the start search box and using that option to see if it restores printing to IE and WLM. Then if that helps you can go to
the IE Tools>"Manage add-ons" to selectively disable add-ons until you find the culprit.

(There may be other problems that crop up in the future that may be helped by an IE reset, so it doesn't hurt to get some practice resetting and starting over with IE, then reapplying those customizations that are really necessary. It's not nearly as much work as reinstalling Windows, which should probably be done every couple of years.)

I've found a simpler solution, I've changed my default browser to Goggle Chrome. It's faster loading and I no longer see "Webpage Not Found" and it prints too.

Can't beat that with a stick.

The original problem you posted was that WLM did not print. Does WLM also print now? If so, congratulations. However, when I suggested resetting IE you said you did not want to loose the customizations you made to it. Now it seems you have lost the customizations along with the browser.

Yes, printing's available in WLM and IE8, I read some where that the two are tied together somehow. If one has a problem the other will too. As long as I used IE9, neither work, all that has been fixed.

I had the same problem & uninstalled IE9 (because its crap) & reverted to IE8 (which is better)
Still had the issue in LiveMail but that was fixed by having message preview turned on, bizzare but true :sarc:

Thanks for the tip. I'm still on IE8 also. (Waiting for the IE9 complaints to die down.) However I suspect many more people are now on IE9 since it has been added to Windows Update, and WLM 2011 since that has been the one easiest to get. So I wonder if all those people have noticed the relationship between WLM's preview pane and printing.
