Hi sharkman, first totally remove Windows Live Essentials using Revo Uninstaller Download WLE 2009

2009 Version from Microsoft: http://g.live.com/1rewlive3/en/wlsetup-web.exe.
Keep in mind that since WLMessenger is a mandatory upgrade to 2011, you won't be able to use Messenger at all. That's because you are basically uninstalling your entire 2011 suite and replacing it with the 2009 suite of programs. As a precaution, be sure to export or otherwise save your WLM contacts and messages so that they can be swapped into the new 2009 install if necessary.
