2-3 months ago I set up a Windows Live Mail account so that I could access my Orange email account via Live Mail. I've never used my Live Mail a/c since then. Yesterday, I thought I'd sign out of Windows Live Mail to see what happened.. (D'oh!) I then tried to sign back in using the Live Mail account I'd created to set up Live mail. Trouble is, I didn't note down the user name or the password and I couldn't remember the account name.. I could probably figure out the password though. How can I retrieve my Live Mail account as I've now lost all my contact addresses..
Many thanks
Pip

I don't understand what you have done.

Are you saying you created a Windows Live mail account, but did not install Windows Live Mail on your PC?
You only accessed the WLM account from Gmail Web mail?
What does a/c mean? Account, Air Conditioning, ... ???

Did you ever send anyone (contacts) the WLM account info?
If you did, and can't remember the account name, can you ask that person to send it back to you?

I created a Live Mail account in order to be able to install Windows Live Mail on my PC - necessary because Windows 7 doesn't include Outlook Express. I then was able to add my Orange email account and my gmail account to Live Mail. I then removed my Live Mail account as I didn't need it. So now I had Windows Live Mail set up as I wanted it and I had all my contact addresses set up.
I then made the fatal mistake of signing out of Live Mail..

You can see the button at the far right now says sign in..
I can't remember the name of my Live Mail account to be able to do so.. I never used Live Mail to send a message either.
The killer in all of this is that all my contacts have disappeared. Hope I've made myself clear.
Thanks
Pip

If you click the sign in button, on the sign in form, is there a "Forgot username" choice? I know there is usually a "Forgot password" choice, but you'd need to know the email address to use that. Ii is possible you set up a secondary email as a contact when you created the WLM account? If so, I think there may be the ability to have your user name (email address) sent there. You can then use that to have your password sent if you can't remember it. I only use web based email, so forgive me if I am wrong.

Thanks for that..
Using your link I managed to fill out a questionnaire with enough info on it for Microsoft to track down my Live Mail account.. They say it will take 24hrs to get back to me..
Many thanks again,
Fingers crossed.
