Hello! This problem of mine has to do with Windows Live Messenger [msn]

Since I've installed windows 7 and tried msn ive had this problem. Starting from login, the program is totally unresponsive for about 2 minutes and than all of a sudden it unfreezes and everything pops up and works. But, in intervals of around 10 seconds the program always freezes for about 5 seconds than unfreezes. So if im typing a message to someone the words will stop appearing as I type until 5 seconds or so pass, than what ever I typed during the freeze will instantly show. These freezes happen in chat windows, main window, and even as I browse for pictures/files to send. Opening the emoticons window causes msn to freeze totally for about 1 minute.

Is there a fix for this? I read somewhere that it may have to do with windows firewall and securities? I have the firewall off, but through experience it seems that windows firewall filters certain things regardless unless you find the specific exception...

Apparently this is a common issue.

It can be caused by:
Firewall(s) blocking access to port 1900
Overclocking

See this thread: Windows Live Messenger Freezes Every so often

Also, if you don't mind switching to a different app, you can use Trillian.

Trillian - IM, Astra, Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, MySpace, AIM, Email, and more!

Thanks for your link ups! So far everything ive tried hasnt done anything :(
I've tried: Adding port 1900 to windows firewall and router. Trying different clocks aswell as stock and disabling my antivirus.

Don't disable your Anti-virus just to use instant messaging  You have something interfering with the application ... it could be another program, such as Windows Defender or you will need to add it to your firewall (to accept it), or your anti-virus.

I disabled windows defender and added a bunch of rules to the windows firewall to enable connections to windows live messenger without any improvements.
