Whenever I try to open MSN Messenger, it does not open and I get this message error message: Windows Live Messenger has stopped working

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: msnmsgr.exe

Application Timestamp: 4bc935af
Fault Module Name: WLDCore.dll

I read that it could be possible that my ID is linked to another account. I had signed up for Bandoo using the same ID (and was linked to MSN Messenger) but since then, I have uninstalled Bandoo, rebooted my computer but still cannot sign on. Do I need to "unlink' the online ID? If so, How do I "un-link" my online ID from my Windows live user account?

Welcome!

I am not familiar with version numbers, but are you running the new beta, or the stable version?

If you don't know, it means you are running the stable version.

I suggest removing Messenger and reinstalling it. Go to Control Panel>Programs and Features, and uninstall Windows Live Essentials. As soon as you start, it will ask you which components to remove. Go ahead and remove Messenger by itself.

You can then reinstall Messenger the same way. Go to uninstall it, and this time install Messenger.

Hopefully, that will do the trick.

Thanks...but I have uninstalled MSN Live, there is not a separate MSN Messenger. When I go to reinstall, I am given a choice and have reinstalled the Messenger program. I have done this 3 times...I really believe it has some correlation to Bandoo...but...that was the first program I uninstalled. From other posts, it sounded like someone had a similar problem and fixed it by "unlinking" the ID from another program. I don't know how to "unlink" or know where to go to find out how to.

Any ideas?
