Hmm. I suspect a problem with the Graphic Driver.
I would suggest that you update your Graphic Driver and that you run WLM in Vista SP1 Compatibility mode.

I think you don't have to run under compatibility mode beciase Live messager support 7
Under the display settings all the options are unchecked like Run in 256 colors or Disable visual themes
