Windows log files in Win 7

is it safe to delete the Windows Log files in Windows 7 ( using CCleaner ) ?

There is no direct negative consequence of deleting log files of any kind. System will function normally, performance will be the same and security won't be afected.

The only point is that you will lose diagnostic info that could be useful for assessing some problem, so make sure you don't need reading them (if system is stable, most likely you don't need them at all).

one more question..... is it safe to use the Windows built-in Windows Update Cleanup? ( are there any issues with this tool). I have Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate.

If I use the Windows Update Cleanup I can save about 7 gigs of disk space

Any option in Disk Cleanup is safe.

Windows Disk Cleanup tends to be more conservative than some other applications. It needs to be. It is used by novices who know nothing of computers and don't want to learn. Providing unsafe options would not be a good idea.

The only downside to using the Windows Update Cleanup is that you will not be able to remove Windows updates.
