Windows Logon

Don't know if this is the right spot for this. I just did a fresh reload of windows 7 to start fresh instead of the last time where I was messing with drivers and things were not working and such. Now with a fresh install and all the right drivers put in the first time my computer runs pretty good until this problem popped up where when i shut down it says Windows logon is still running and i have to force close it to shutdown. I noticed that if i do an update and the computer needs to reboot i don't get this message. Not a big problem just kinda annoying that I can't just hit shutdown and walk away.

Another problem I had which has I guess a Bandaid on it was I am unable to play DVDs and MPGs on windows 7 when i could in Vista. I had to install the shark codec pack to get everything to work. I installed 7 on to other computers in the house and they both run like champs without any problems but mine has these two issues.

Any help is greatly apprciated.

Ok, did a little searching on google and seemed to have solved my problem. I first tried Drivercleaner to get rid of unused drivers but that didn't work to well. then i found a thread on how to remove devices that are installed but not displayed because they are usb and unplugged or they were removed to install newer devices. The problem is they still stay in there and can cause conflicts. So I gave it a shot because i looked at the regitry keys for winlogon and saw that my bluetooth radio was still in the regitry even though I took it out.

So it says to right click on computer and go to properties
then click on advanced system settings
in the advanced tab click environment variables
under system variables click new
for variable name put devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
for variable value put 1
hit ok

Now after this when you open device manager and click View, show hidden devices you'll see the devices that are usually there and some greyed out. I removed all the greyed out devices which 8 were to do with the nonexistant bluetooth and the rest were external hard drives that I moved to different ports so i got rid of all of them and now my computer shuts down and the internet runs faster, no more lag. This thing runs perfect now. Just though I'd share even if to check to see what you got. I figured I'd remove everything grey and the ones I still use would just install again. good thing to check if you have changed out cards or have usb devices that your not useing anymore.
