I just installed Windows 7 and I can't find Windows Mail. I had it in Vista (not the windows live mail crap) but it appears it isn't in W7. :(

Anyone know how to get it?

Open the start menu and type 'essentials', click on the first item that comes up -> "go online to get windows live essentials"

From there you can download and install the windows mail program along with some of the other programs that microsoft left out of windows 7 (such as movie maker, messenger, and a photo editor).

Hope that helps!

Windows Mail (as in vista) is not a part of Windows 7. With windows 7 you have to install your own email client. As suggested above you can use Windows Live mail or you can use any other 3rd party software such as thunderbird

Have you enabled the menus? In doing so I feel this makes Windows Live Mail much more manageable.

Hi there
You can install the Vista Windows Mail on W7 -- I (and others) had a post a few months back on how to do this this so search the Forum.

I don't like Windows Live mail (of course YMMV) but that's my choice.

Being a suscriber to Technet I get Office Enterprise 2007 as a download anyway so I don't mind using Outlook 2007 - it's compatable with most work places in any case.

I'm not a big fan of "complicating up" things like email -- KISS -- keep it short and simple is the best motto here. Email is email -- not intended to be used as an alternative to Facebook, twitter etc etc.

That's why I think Google Wave won't be the resounding success they are hoping for.

Cheers

Vista Windows Mail install on Windows 7

Hi

I just joined the forum and found message by jimb045 indicating that you can install Vista Windows Mail on Windows 7. Have searched forum looking for this, but haven`t found it. Anyone know what post it is or perhaps a more detailed way of searching for it.
