Windows makes Macs run more quietly...

why I can't get these jokes? what did I missed? I know MacBook have a lot of dust inside...

Apple have a tag line of "Mac, it just works"

now read this:

One thing PC users can do that Mac users can't...

the one thing that he totally missed off the list is 'right click' OOTB

2005 called, they want their dig back.
Since the mighty mouse Macs have shipped with a multibutton mouse (they now have one that has a built in multitouch surface). Before that, they have always had option-click which third party mice took advantage of.

yeah i know its an old post, but the whole attitude thing applies still. My friends who have bought macs just seem to go on and on at how brilliant they are when pretty much now its just an over priced shiny unix that has everything locked down. I've shown them ubuntu running compiz and you should see the look on their faces, oh and those facts of "yeah no virus' for macs" seem kind of obsolete when you tell them "50 for mac, 4 for linux, a few trillion for windows. Oh and the Linux ones, you have to build and sudo install"

Credit where credits due: webkit is awesome, but apple only Opensource it because they reused a bunch of KHTML stuff for it, they have to.

PS OOTB (out of the box) cmd+click combo isn't the same in my eyes. Also I dont know why, but when I picture mac's in my head I see macbooks over iMacs. Totally forgot that mighty mouse thing

50?
Only Mac OS Classic (version 9 and below) had 50 viruses due to a buggy design. after Apple bought NEXTStep to reobtain Steve Jobs, they rewrote Mac OS around nextstep (except for quicktime, that was ported). There have been maybe three limited-impact trojans, and there has been a proof-of-concept virus which is now considered art and has been purchesed by a museum.
Personally IMnsHO it's a good thing that they used OSS, because all they really did was taken proven software and combine it in a way that makes the computer very easy to use. (try having your grandma set up compiz, especially if she has the graphics card from hell.
Also, Apple open-sourced Darwin (the kernel) and I think something else.

If Apple would just, you know, sell their OS/Machine in a respectful way? I mean when was the last time you even saw an OS X screen shot in a TV ad? What do Macs do? Anything? Are they a computer? What do they look like?

True enough, but watch a few shows on primetime TV and you'll see a slew of PowerBook cases, and when they show the "application" that is running, you see something awfully close to MS. It's all about "product placement".

This is probably the longest I've ever had a Windows machine run without having to restore it to scratch. I'm used to restoring to "factory" about every 2 yrs. I've run with Win7 since new in 2009 and only recently (Nov, '14) restored to clean up the machine from all my 'xperimenting. LOL!! I may never need another machine.

Upgraded to 10 when it was still free, then installed 2017 update.
We have thousands of Windows Machines and under 20 MAC's. Just so everyone knows MAC's have all the problems Windows Machines have. I cannot stand it when someone tells me a MAC is perfect because it is not. I have seen everything go wrong with a MAC they are not perfect.

Another thing we have seen more malware type websites that are hard on Windows Machines are now infecting MAC's too. Thank God for a superior Hardware Firewalls, IDS Servers, and Web Filtering Servers or the MAC's would be just as hard hit.

We are seeing less viruses and more malware epically from web sites. (The malware may lead to a virus or some sort of SPAM bot)

So far I have not seen any of the malware web sites infect any other *NIX OS just MAC OS.

The Mac virus is still kicking around?
I thought it blew out a few months ago.
Also, how experienced are you with Macs? I noticed you typed it as MAC as in M.A.C. address and not Mac as in Macintosh.

Most likely because I type MAC a lot for MAC addresses (huge network)...It is just as bad as typing DOS or DoS or Dos or dos. Ugh! or COM or Com or com.

Hummm Mac's all the way back to System 6 or so; as well as Lisa, Apple ][, Apple ][+ etc.

@ IceFire: BTW once you get your MAK (look at that another mac) key from Microsoft you can use it on your 90 trial without the need to reload with the non-trial Windows 7 Enterprise DVD.

I'm not on an enterprise network and I have no access to a MAK server.
I'm just waiting for my upgrade discs, which are really delayed.

@IceFire - There is no MAK server the MAK key is the key you use to activate Windows 7 Enterprise for your first 25 installs while you setup your KMS server. The KMS server will take over from there. For the KMS server to work you must have 25 machines requesting from it. If you are never going to have more than 24 machines then the MAK key will work and contact Microsoft’s KMS servers every 160 days to verify your key and amount of machines and make sure you are legitimate.

I assumed that by your machine specs you were using Enterprise because you have many machines. It never occurred to me you could be using it for 90 days as a test or while you decided on what to buy or if you like Windows 7 etc. etc. etc.

Sorry for the confusion: I figured you had your MAK key ordered and most IT techs will reload the machine with the NEW Enterprise DVD and then apply the MAK key. You don’t have to do this you can just enter the MAK key and 90 trial activates same as if you installed from the Non-Trial Enterprise DVD.

I still have very little idea on what you are talking about.
I'm running the Enterprise trial because i cannot stand Vista. I'm betting that my Windows upgrade kit will arrive before my trial expires, but I only have 55 days left with no response from MSI, so I may go visit my sister and ask her to help me get the college discount on Home Premium or Professional.
