Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on and off

I'm wondering what does it mean when Media Features folder shows blue tick box even when I have disabled the three subfolders in it (Windows Media Center, Windows Media Player, Microsoft DVD maker). I don't use any of the media programs that come with Windows AFAIK.

I found out that service called svchost.exe (LocalServiceAndNoImpersonation) is bottlenecking* performance of several other services: svchost.exe (NetworkService), svchost.exe (netsvcs), svchost.exe (LocalServicePeerNet). That first mentioned service seems to have something to do with Windows media features. I would like to disable it altogether if I can do it safely.

*Task manager -> Resource monitor -> right-click service -> analyze wait chain

There are 3 details.

1. On the left-most side is + in the box, if available.
If there is a + box, this mean that there are sub folders.
If there is no box, there are no more sub-folders available.

2. On the center is the main box to select or not.
If the box is empty, it consider as Not selected

3. On the right-most is the Folder.
If the item 1 is available, there are sub-folders.
If the sub-folder do have sub-folder, it will be similar to point 1 and 2 and 3.

If you do not want "Media Features", ensure there is no tick mark in the box beside the main folder.
As long as there is no ticked in the main folder left-most box, all sub-folders are auto not ticked.

If the center box is "blue" shaded, this means some sub-folders are "ticked" and some not "ticked".
Example: Folder of "Internet Information Services"

As you can see, some do have sub-sub-folders.
In my setup, i have no tick on the "Internet Games" and sub-folder also not ticked in the box.

Do not do anything on the task manger items, such as you mentioned "svchost" as these files are must and there is a link to other application &or programs.
If you unintentional, you need to restart the computer as it will be activated again.

The best is not to be bother about items in task manager.
The main matter in the task manager is to manual or rather, force the application /program to stop, as indicated in the Task Manager -> Application Tab - to force to end the application for not working properly.
