Has anyone noticed a discrepancy in how Windows Media Player 12 updates album art?

What I mean is that if I'm viewing an album in the library, and I use the "Right-click, Past Album Art" command, the specified image is inserted into the library and DIRECTLY into the MP3 files (as they should be), but if I use "Right-Click, Find Album Info", the image is added only to the library, and I have to use my own utility (MP3 Media Properties Explorer) to locate and embed the album art into the MP3 files.

Does anyone know of a fix for this behaviour?

I use a program called tag and rename to tag all my files correctly before i import them into WMP. Not a fix for your problem, but a alternative at least.

Which is what my own "MP3 Media Properties Explorer" does :D. It ties into "freedb.com" to locate the ID3 tags for albums, but unfortuneately, it does not get the album art (a limitation of freedb.com).

So I use MP3MPE to get the correct tags, and then Windows Media Player to find the album art (easier than using google), which is placed into the containing folder of the MP3 Album as "AlbumArtXXX.jpg" files. MP3 Explorer then uses those files to embed the album art.

Not an ideal method, but it works. I just thought it extremely odd that in WMP, using "Paste Album Art" embeds the thumbnails, but "Find Album Info" does not....

Ive always used google for album art so i can get high resolution scans. WMP only offers 200x200px

Under options in WMP select the library tab and tick the radio button to replace all media info.

Just checked that optin now, and WMP still only updates text-based meta data when the "Find album info" command is used. The album art is still stored seperately as a JPG file.
