Hey guys,

My problem began when I tried to access a video on wmp12, an error message occurred: "Server execution failed"

So I tried to delete the wmp folder by changing its ownership (+ the ownership of all related .dll files) and then deleting it. then I downloaded a new version of media player, but every time I want to install this new version a message: " There is a more recent version of windows media player (12.0.7600.16667) already installed on your computer. It is not possible to use an older installation package (12.0.7600.16385) to install files or to repair your current version of the player" occurs.

Then I tried everything from restarting the windows media player sharing service, to uninstalling and then reinstalling it by turning the windows media features on then off, to updating the version in command prompt. But nothing is working.

If I try to access it now the following error is displayed: "Windows media player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled. Do you want to install the player from the microsoft web site?"

Any suggestions??????

Yes, if a recent problem, go back with System Restore.

Indeed, you definitely need to do a System Restore to a point before you deleted the WMP folder
