I've been using WMP of late to transfer MP3s onto my Walkman. Up until yesterday things were mostly pretty okay, with just the odd error reading tracks as the wrong track and problems editing the info on the tracks. But yesterday the player started showing tracks that I've long since deleted off the hard drive. It also flatly refuses to delete them off the player list! On top of that it doesn't show any new tracks that I download onto the hard drive. It can play them, yes, but they don't show up on the play list, just the long since deleted ones show up. I think maybe the player's somehow been corrupted. If so is there any easy way to correct the corruption and get it working properly again?

I've opened Control Panel but I can't seem to find Administrative Tools.

I've also found that one of my album folders that I downloaded is now locked. Whever I try to delete it manually from my hard drive it says, "You'll need to provide Administrator permission to delete this folder", then "The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program". This is even though I've got no other programs working at that moment!

Thats strange. You can go to Services directly by clicking on the Start button, then typing "Services.msc" (without quotes) in the Run box.

Thanks. That seemed to have cleared it. I also managed to unlock that music album which refused to delete. I'll let you know if it starts playing up again. :)
