Windows Media Player Process does not end after closing WMP.

Hey forums! I've got a small problem that irritates me in a small way on a daily basis. The Windows Media Player process does not end when I close Windows Media Player. As such it creates problems and interference with my Logitech G510 Gaming Keyboard when I want to switch to listening to some music in Winamp. This requires me to manually open Task Manager and terminate the process manually.

Is there any way of forcing the WMP Process to terminate automatically along with the program itself being shut without having to go into task manager every time? Would appreciate any advice or solutions.

Thanks!

I've never heard of WMPSideShowGadget.exe before, haven't seen it in Task Master either, so it's not that.

I also wanted to ask... What do you mean by 'CP' sorry?

Just a thought; do you use ITunes? I don't know if this can cause your problem but it's worth taking a look at.

Unfortunately, I had this problem on my old PC as well where I didn't have iTunes installed, so I'm getting the impression it's something in WMP as opposed to an outside program affecting it.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled WMP as Josea suggested. No luck yet. =\

Well I have looked through this thread again looking for a clue. So the first thing I see is that you are running AVG. That could be the problem. Just search this Forum to get expert opinion on this A/V. The advice will come back to get rid of it and install Windows Secrity essentials. The other point i note is that you are running Windows 7 Ulto=imate version. Where did you get your copy of Ultimate as it is an unusual choice for average users like us?

Uninstall AVG and replace with Windows Essentials huh? Well, I'll give it a try.

And I got the system builder version of Windows Ultimate. Comes at a discounted price if you purchase several bits of hardware along with it. Mind you, I'm also a programmer and a studying 3D artist. I don't think I fit the definition of 'average user'.

Mind you, back when I had the basic home 32bit edition of Windows 7 before on my old computer I also had this same problem, so it's not the version of Windows either.
